Breed specific dogfood?
By Kristina Porter
We just got an advertisement in the mail today for a new breed specific dogfood called Royal Canin. They actually make dogfood for specific breeds. Our ad was for Royal Canin Pug 25. I didn't know they made dogfood specifically for pugs until now. It says that it is the best food to feed your pug for: 1. Coat & Skin: Due to the pug breeds genetic dermatological problems they have enhanced the food with Omega 3 fatty acids to promote skin health. 2. Jaw Shape: Because the pug has such a large, round head with short muzzle, and brachycephalic jaw, and thick lips it is very difficult for a Pug to pick up dog food pebbles and eat without swallowing lots of air. So they made the kibble clover leaf shaped so its easier to pick up and chew. 3. Teeth: Pugs unique teeth are prone to plaque deposits so they added sodium tripolyphosphate, green tea polyphenois and specialized kibbles to reduce plaque, tartar and bad breath. ( A personal must in my pugs case) 4. Weight: Yeah, these little guys pack on the pounds since they tend to sleep 18 hrs out of the day. Royal Canin Pug 25 is made of specific ingredients to aid your pet with a healthy diet to promote energy and L-carnitine to maximize metabolism. 5. Guaranteed: Thats right. They guarantee you will like it and your dog will love it our they will pay you twice what you paid for the dog food. With those five reasons alone, I am going out to buy a small bag this weekend and try it out on my little guy. I think I will try their website for a dogfood specifically for our Boston Terrier too. |
